ATLAS experiment

ATLAS logoATLAS - A Toroidal LHC ApparatuS - is a particle experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN (near Geneva, Switzerland). Its main mission is to study proton-proton collisions at high energies. The aim of the ATLAS experiment is not only to study in detail already known and observed particles, but above all to search for hypothetical particles such as the Higgs boson or discoveries beyond the standard model of particle physics. In recent years, many new and diverse theories have emerged, awaiting experimental confirmation (or possibly refutation).
